Woven mesh is an extremely versatile material suitable for a variety of screening, tensioning and filtering applications. It is a kind of woven wire mesh with a plain weave. The fabric is also easy to weld into a stiff sheet with a hole of equal size. The mesh is characterized by high conductivity, non-magnetic properties and corrosion resistance. Technical wire mesh can separate grains of gravel, slag, sand etc.

This mesh can be made of steel, brass or copper.

Woven copper mesh is used in the production of faraday cage, which is very popular now to block electromagetic fields.

Brass wire mesh is often used for decoration because of its decorative appearance and softness and it is also often used to prevent sparking, e.g. as an accessory around explosive gases.
